Today's real wedding is such a beautiful celebration of love and happiness that we've really been looking forward to sharing it with you all! Leah and MJ said "I do" last Summer on the grounds at Dublin's Radisson Blu St. Helen's Hotel. Their wedding came with a festival-chic-meets-urban-rustic vibe and we absolutely adore everything about their day, which they managed to pull off in spite of tricky Covid-19 restrictions. From Leah’s classy-yet-edgy bridal style and the epic bridal party looks, to the festival-style reception, filled to the brim with personalised rustic details, and their extra special speeches, every treasured moment was captured by the super-talented Roger from The Portrait Room. So, let's take a closer look, shall we!?
Leah spent the wedding morning getting ready with her bridesmaids and family at her childhood home in Blackrock, before heading on to the local Guardian Angels Church for their ceremony.
Leah's chic wedding dress is by the designer Helena Kolan, which she sourced at The One by Sinead Corcoran. We love the dainty belt detail and that show-stopping slit! She accessorised with drop earrings from One Dame Lane and barely-there strappy sandals.
Groom MJ is from Co. Laois and Bride Leah is from Dublin, where the couple are now based. The couple first met around 6 years ago when their eyes met across the office floor! After a few instant messages in work, the pair went for a drink in McSorley’s in Ranelagh, and the rest, as they say, is history!
The proposal happened at the couple's favourite lunchtime date spot! Leah reminisces, "MJ proposed in a little park across the road from the office, where we had gone on a few lunchtime dates over the years. I had no idea he was about to propose but, turns out, everyone else did and they were all waiting in McSorley’s for a surprise engagement party!"
The flower girls wore pretty embroidered dresses, together with dainty sprigs of gypsophila in their hair.
How gorgeous are Leah's gals in green?! Their fabulous one-shoulder olive midi dresses are from Ted Baker. It's such a cool, contemporary choice for bridesmaids - they'll definitely wear these beauties again!
MJ and his groomsmen rocked black tie ensembles from Bond Brothers.
We can never get enough of those 'just married' smiles!
Leah and her bridesmaids carried beautiful bouquets of cream roses, white hydrangea and greenery.
The perfect reception venue for this couple's festival celebration? The Radisson Blu St. Helen's Hotel, who helped the couple pull off a Covid-friendly day. "The outdoor area they have meant we could create a space that we loved, while also ensuring everyone felt comfortable," Leah reminisces.
When it came to planning their day, Leah and MJ's sole aim was to create a fun, laid-back vibe for themselves and their guests, and the pair went to great lengths to ensure their wedding had the right atmosphere, all while keeping their guests safe. Leah tells us, "The set up was kind of like a mini festival. We had the whole day outside with the band in one tent and the dinner in another. With everything going on, it felt normal, which is a strange way to describe it, but I think everyone was able to relax and just have fun, which is all we had wanted."
The lawns of the Radisson Blu St. Helen's Hotel were the setting for post-ceremony drinks, and were decorated with lots of rustic details and floral displays. There were more amazing floral displays inside the festival tent – rose, gypsophila and eucalyptus arrangements across the dining tables and filling crates at the table ends.
The personalised rustic signage, as well as the custom mirror welcome sign, table plan and selfie station, all came courtesy of Conzept.
The couple hired planning and styling company Conzept to help them achieve this epic festival look. "The work that Conceptz did was amazing, they did everything; tables dressings, chairs, lighting, heaters, games, flowers, decorations. The set up on the day was incredible, they really went above and beyond."
I think this is quite possibly the youngest (and sweetest!) speech-giver we've ever featured! Holly-Rose, MJ’s daughter and Leah's stepdaughter, was chief flower girl on the day and brought the house down with the most amazing speech.
Congratulations Leah and MJ, and thank you both for sharing your day with us, and to Roger from The Portrait Room for documenting it so beautifully. There are even more gorgeous photographs to peruse in the gallery below.
