A Tractor, a Dog and Just 20 Guests: Rebecca & Kyle

This couple's ceremony backdrop is #weddinggoals!

I am just floored by the positivity of today's real wedding couple, Rebecca and Kyle, who tied the knot in February 2021. Strict lockdown measures in Northern Ireland meant that this couple weren't able to have any kind of wedding reception, just a ceremony for 20 guests, but they definitely made the most of a tricky situation! Dressing up in their wedding-day finery and decking out their ceremony space at Galgorm Golf and Spa Resort with epic floral arrangements, this pair said 'I do', then hopped into Kyle's tractor and headed home for a Chinese takeaway and a bottle of bubbly! It was a million miles from the wedding they had originally planned, but we think their day sounds so lovely and relaxed. Plus, they can make up for the lack of dinner and dancing at their part-two celebration later this Summer! Steven Hanna Photography has graciously shared his imagery from their small wedding with us, so let's bring on the photographs!

Rebecca and Kyle tell us that they first laid eyes on each other nine years ago. "We met at a dance and that was it, ever since that day, we were always a part of each other's lives until the relationship became serious." The couple officially became fiancé and fiancée in 2016. Rebecca tells us, "On the weekend of our two-year anniversary of living together, (major accomplishment!) we arranged to stay at our favourite place to celebrate, and got engaged there. This led to more celebrations after the proposal!"

Can you believe Rebecca made the couple's wedding sign herself!? What a talented bride!

When Covid-19 restrictions forced this couple to get creative with their wedding plans, they decided on two separate celebrations. "With the continuous lockdowns and the unknown, we knew for a good few months that we were going to go ahead and get legally married," Rebecca says. "We used this opportunity to make the weddings different. We knew we wanted our fur baby, Ricky, to be with his Mummy and Daddy when we said ‘I do’. Ricky was our best man and Linda from Leaf Designs created a gorgeous collar and floral lead for him. He was just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!"

Rebecca tells us that she and Kyle, who are both Tyrone natives, always wanted to tie the knot close to home. "Kyle and I are not holiday makers," she says. "We’re such home birds and have gone to various hotels, but none compared to the service of Galgorm. We celebrated every occasion down at the resort. We even had our pre-wedding party there, one week before lockdown! How lucky were we?!"

The couple describe their wedding day as "super relaxed. It was extremely intimate and very much family-oriented!" After the ceremony, the couple headed home to celebrate with their little furry pal, Ricky. "We couldn’t have a meal or any gatherings so we made the best of a bad situation. We went home, had a Chinese, lots of bubbly and watched movies! Who else can say they’ve been that chilled-out on their wedding day!?"

To make their official wedding day feel special, the couple went to town on beautiful florals by Leaf Designs, and even arranged takeaway sweet treats for their guests. "We asked our good friend Gemma of Gemma’s Cookie Co, and her lovely hubby, John of John Bakes Cakes, to make us up some cookie favours and boxes of cupcakes in some of our wedding cake flavours that we have chosen," Rebecca says. "We thought this would be a nice touch to give to our families as a little taster for Day 2! I think one of the reasons that we have stayed so upbeat during the wedding process is because of the support we got from suppliers like these!"

One of the couple's favourite parts of their wedding was including their lovely doggo, Ricky. "Having our little fur baby with us on our wedding day was so special to us," Rebecca says. "We are completely obsessed with him! He goes everywhere!"

Rebecca tells us that she wanted to save her original wedding dress for the larger celebration this Summer so she turned to an online shopping staple for her part-one dress. "The dress I wore was from ASOS for the bargain price of £45!" she says. "Our bridal party were there, but we asked all of our guests to dress in whatever they wanted and we will all wear out wedding attire come our second wedding day in the Summer." Of course, she had to add a little bit of opulence to her look, too! "I said 'I do' in Jimmy Choo!" she tells us. "They were so beautiful, chunky white and gold glitter court heels - dreamy!"

I just love that Kyle's pride and joy, his Fendt tractor, made an appearance at the wedding! "We had always planned to bring Kyle’s tractor to the wedding for some photos, but we made the most of it, knowing that we couldn’t do anything else the rest of the day. The farmer had got his wife, he had to take her home in style!" This is too cute!

Rebecca has some sage words of advice for couples planning a wedding during the pandemic. "Never let go of your dream wedding," she says. "It will come, but definitely go ahead and get legally married. Nothing else matters and during this time, we all need a little pick-me-up! Plan a mini wedding day and have fun! We went through so many proposed dates and one thing I’ll say is, it doesn’t matter what date you get married, it won’t make it any less special!"

Thanks so much to Rebecca and Kyle for sharing their gorgeous small wedding with us, and to Steven Hanna Photography for providing the beautiful imagery! There are even more photographs to swoon over in the gallery below.
